I have long called myself a sensitive. This is reclamation from a childhood of being called too sensitive in a desensitized world. Numbing is a survival strategy that needs our awareness without our judgement. Similarly, feeling and being felt need not be judged either. Sensitivity is inherently relational. Sensitivity is the most beautiful, deeply human quality we can possess. It is also a spiritual gift I’ve been developing. But Lordt!! I now find myself feeling overstimulated as I attune the instrument of my body. One of my teachers says that, in collective trauma work, our nervous system is our greatest tool, and I can feel my nervous system in upgrade. It is uncomfortable.

Every sound booms.
The blade of grass breaking soil
is cacophonous.
Is this metamorphosis?
Some call it monstrosity.
